Sources of Security

2 Kings 18:13 NLT

13 In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah's reign, King Sennacherib of Assyria came to attack the fortified towns of Judah and conquered them.

The happy part about this verse is that the king of Assyria was unable to conquer Jerusalem. However Isaiah 8:8 says that his coming was like a flood overflowing the riverbanks covering the land. So he did conquer a lot of territory. And do you notice something about the area he conquered? It was fortified.

We hear a lot a bout security these days, how to make the capitol more secure, how to make the internet more hack proof, how to keep people and devices from spying on us. But no matter how much we plan, there are evil forces that oppose us and sometimes win.

But the great news is that there is one Who’s security is sure, Who’s promises never fail, and Who’s love and faithfulness is never ending. And that is Christ.

Father, keep us from making plans for anything other than You as our source of security. In Jesus name, Amen.
